The transport industry (CURRENTLY, GO) through rapid changes as electric vehicles reshape the market. As of today, there (BE) an estimated 25-30 million electric cars worldwide, and many of the models that (BELONG) to the new mass-market generation (CREATE) even stronger demand in the next decade. By 2035 there (BE) far more electric cars on the road than petrol ones, partly because fuel prices in the early 2030s (DECLINE) after several global agreements, and electric vehicles (REPRESENT) a growing share of all new registrations. When the government first (INTRODUCE) subsidies in 2010, there (BE) barely two charging stations for every thousand vehicles, whereas today there (BE) more than twenty. By 2035 there (BE) another major shift that (ALREADY, AFFECT) the industry: thanks to advances in chemistry and recycling, battery lifespan (INCREASE) and (CONTINUE) to improve. Today drivers can expect their batteries to last five years longer than in 2010.
